Dreams: The Grand Hall

Published by at 8:30 am under Dreams

I just woke from a dream in which there was this grand hall. I recall flying through it as though riding in a tiny helicopter or as though I were floating about. This hall was attached to an old, Victorian style house full of mysterious rooms which were in turn full of mysterious things. Attached to the back of the house was the Grand Hall. It was definitely “older” than the house to which it was attached. There was an open roof at the very top of the hall the size of what I will call the dance floor, and the whole hall was covered inside and out with ivy and moss after decades of apparent neglect. It was two stories and there were old stone pillars holding up the second floor and the partial roof. Statuary littered the hall, and in fact the statue in the very center of the hall may look familiar to some of you:

It too was covered with ages of dust and plant growth, but was recognizable nonetheless. There was another statue on one end of the dance floor that was in far worse condition. It had tendrils of stone coming off of it, climbing ever skyward, and seemed to have resembled something human at some time. I can’t recall for certain, but it seems as though some of the tendrils had broken off and continued to grow, giving them a layered appearance. There were other statues scattered around, but I can’t recall what any of the others looked like. Matter of fact, the whole city in my dream happened to be full of such buildings. I recall at other points in the dream regretting not having my camera to take pictures of it all. Strangely there was a feeling of sadness over it all, but it somehow felt right.

There was some time spent exploring the house, which was a strange cross between a Victorian mansion and an early 20th century farmhouse. I say this because there was a fairly modern toilet hidden beneath a staircase, but the rest of the house was filled with rich carpets and fine art you would expect to find in a mansion. The dream finally climaxed when I met up with three characters that some of you may also recognize:

I’m not sure how I realized it, but it seems I was carrying the the gems that belong on the foreheads of Urd, Belldandy, and Skuld. I recall it being a surprise, as though I had not recognized them in their human forms. I gave each their gem and was surrounded by light as they placed them to their foreheads. They went swirling through the air, rays of light shining out and feathers flying. When I opened my eyes, the hall was restored to its original condition. Marble tiles gleamed with polish as did perfect, smooth pillars of stone. Candles lit the entire hall with dancing flames. The statue that had fallen into such decay was restored, and turned out to be a dancer in mid-stride. I recall becoming distinctly aware at that point that there was something I was supposed to do in response to all this; something required to keep things this way, but it all started to fade away as I felt myself waking up to start a new day.

Ah My Goddess… Thats like the first manga I ever read. I remember being fascinated in the fact that it was a love story, rather than some action oriented stuff on TV… Then I went “WTF” when I saw Keichii get turned into a girl…

I was 12 at the time.

Interesting dream though. That is a nifty ability to vividly remember your dreams that well. I wish I could do that. lulz

As I started ot read this I kept thinking back to a book I read, though I can’t recall the title, but it ws talking about the Hall of Wisdom or something like that. It is the place where people go directly after dying to relive every moment of their life and reflect upon the learning experiences faced. It is also a place that people can “tap” into….the ultimate universal well of knowledge. I don’t know much about animation stuff, but that’s what I got out of it. I have a fairly good ability to dream in color and remember them in detail as well. Everyone says it is a gift, but to me it is just ordinary to be that way….yeah so…I’m sure I will see you this weekend

Sounds like you’ve inherited the Owens ability to dream vividly and remember them. Perhaps there is a movie career here : )
